::: Here’s Africa

Here's Africa, Iran, Islamic Republic of, 22 July 2010

Development means decreasing distances.

This documentary series deals with the pathology of development in African countries and examines the mutual relationship between economy, politics and culture in the course of development.

Here’s Africa believes that development is directly related to information, planning and management, which should take place in society in a homogenous fashion.

The plot of this documentary is that an Iranian woman researcher travels to Africa and tries to tour Africa to find out more about the concept of development over there. The places she visits range from impoverished schools in the suburbs of Johannesburg in South Africa to modern multinational schools, universities, banks, insurance centers, factories, agricultural centers, the parliament, galleries, museums and cultural centers in different African countries.

Development is expected to reduce gaps; the gap between the wealthy and the poor, men and women, far and near, etc.

Here’s Africa attempts to portray a different image of Africa; a promising image where planning, law and perseverance have lead human beings to development.

By portraying various developed regions of Africa, this documenatry tries to offer its viewers other images than Africa’s starvation and wildlife; a fully-capacitated Africa that invites and smiles.

After this documentary was broadcast on Iranian state-run TV, Iranian investment in different sections of Africa’s commerce, tourism, scientific and cultural transactions experienced a considerable hike.

This series was produced in 52 episodes of 35 minutes each in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, the semi-autonomous island of Zanzibar and Ethiopia.
